Formerly our Vego Kimchi + Dumpling Workshop, Make Your Own Kimchi and Eat It Too! is a new take on one of our all-time favourite workshops. The best of both worlds - this is part hands-on workshop, part My Grandma Ben shared feast!

Korean kimchi is loved all around the world for its irresistible fizz, tang and spice. But have you ever thought to make it yourself at home?! Turning an unassuming cabbage into a fermented flavour fest is easier than you might think, and the uses for cooking with kimchi at home are endless.

We'll start the night with a hands-on workshop where you'll learn how to make kimchi Grandma Ben’s way - a simplified method using red miso instead of fish sauce, making this delicious fermented condiment both vegetarian and vegan friendly. You'll learn all about the fermentation process and leave armed with the knowledge needed to look after your jar when you get home.

After you've finished making your own jar of kimchi, our workshop space will be transformed into a dining room where we'll put on a two course shared dinner to end the night. Enjoy a glass of wine (or three!) while you tuck into a feast showcasing some of our favourite ways to cook with kimchi (yes, there'll be kimchi dumplings and kimchi pancakes!). An informative, fun and delicious way to spend a Friday night. 

Perfect for: absolutely anyone! Suitable for beginner fermenters and those with some prior knowledge who want to learn a bit more about kimchi. The perfect date night or fun night out with friends.

Booking with a gift voucher

If you have been gifted a Workshop E-Gift Voucher (this would have been emailed or given to you with a unique online code), you are able to put this amount towards any upcoming workshop. Simply enter your unique gift code at the checkout. You can then pay the remaining amount, if any. 

If you have a physical cardboard gift voucher, you will need to send us an email to book into a workshop as these are not redeemable online. Please get in touch via with the workshop name, date and your voucher number. We will then be in touch to confirm your booking.

Please select the number of tickets you'd like to book at the checkout. All workshops are held at the My Grandma Ben eatery in Plant 4, Bowden. A reminder email will be sent 2 days before the workshop.
